Scenario Planning And Stress Testing For Business Risk
Course Description
Organizations today operate in an environment defined by uncertainty, volatility, and interconnected risks. Traditional forecasting methods are no longer sufficient to anticipate complex disruptions arising from financial shocks, geopolitical instability, cyber threats, and climate-related events.
The Scenario Planning & Stress Testing for Business Risk course provides a structured and practical approach to anticipating and managing uncertainty through advanced risk modeling techniques. It combines enterprise risk management (ERM) and integrated risk management (IRM) principles with modern scenario design and stress testing methodologies.
Learners will explore how organizations distinguish between scenario planning and stress testing, and how both approaches are used to evaluate resilience under extreme but plausible conditions. The course also introduces global standards such as ISO, COSO, Basel, and NIST, providing a strong governance foundation for structured risk decision-making.
A strong focus is placed on regulatory expectations from U.S. authorities including the Federal Reserve, SEC, OCC, FDIC, NAIC, HIPAA, and SOX. Participants will understand how scenario-based analysis supports compliance, capital planning, and operational resilience requirements, including model risk governance under SR 11-7 guidelines.
The course also examines modern risk infrastructure, including GRC platforms, analytics providers, and enterprise planning tools such as ServiceNow, Archer, Moody’s, S&P, MSCI, SAS, and Anaplan. AI and automation in risk analysis are integrated throughout to demonstrate how organizations are evolving toward real-time risk intelligence.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to design, implement, and operationalize scenario planning and stress testing frameworks that enhance strategic decision-making and enterprise resilience.
